What a Furnace Installation Includes

A furnace replacement is a combustion appliance installation, and that raises the standard. Venting, combustion air, gas sizing, and condensate handling on a high efficiency unit all have to be right, because the consequences of getting them wrong aren't comfort problems. This is the part of the job that an inspection exists to catch.

Property Renovators Home Services starts from repair. A furnace that won't light is usually an igniter, a flame sensor, a pressure switch, or a limit trip, and those are repairs. When a heat exchanger has failed or the equipment has genuinely reached the end, we replace it properly and we show you the combustion readings at the end.

What This Covers

  • A load calculation so the furnace is sized to the house not to whatever was there before
  • Venting designed and installed for the equipment, including proper materials, slope, and termination clearances
  • Combustion air provided correctly for the space the equipment sits in
  • Gas line sizing and connection checked for the appliance load, with a leak check performed
  • Condensate drainage and neutralization handled properly on high efficiency equipment
  • Duct transitions and plenum connections built and sealed rather than improvised
  • Airflow set for the equipment, with temperature rise verified inside the manufacturer's range
  • Permits pulled and inspection handled where the work requires it
  • Combustion analysis performed and the readings written down and left with you
  • A walkthrough of the system, the thermostat, the filter, and the shutoff locations

When a Furnace Should Be Replaced

  • A cracked or failed heat exchanger, which is a safety matter and not a comfort one
  • Repeated failures of different components across a single heating season
  • Rust, scaling, or corrosion through the cabinet and burner area
  • A unit well beyond its expected service life that's now facing a major repair
  • Rooms that have never heated correctly since installation, which usually means sizing or ducts
  • A furnace that was oversized and has short cycled its entire life

How a Furnace Installation Runs

Safety assessment first

If we find a combustion safety problem we tell you immediately and plainly, before any conversation about equipment or scheduling.

Sizing from the house

A load calculation establishes the size. Oversized furnaces short cycle, produce uneven temperatures, and wear out early, and simply matching the old unit repeats the original error.

Full written scope before we start

Equipment, venting, gas, condensate, duct transitions, permits, and timeline. You approve it before the old unit comes out, so nothing gets discovered mid job.

Commission, test, and document

We verify temperature rise, run a full heating cycle, perform combustion analysis, and leave you the readings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Start with a diagnosis. Most no heat calls are repairs. Replacement is the right answer for a failed heat exchanger, heavy corrosion, or a major repair on equipment already past its service life. We show you what we found and you decide.
The heat exchanger separates combustion gases from the air you breathe. When it cracks, that separation is compromised. It's a safety issue, and on most residential furnaces replacing the exchanger isn't the sensible repair.
Yes, where the work requires one. Gas appliance installations are inspected, and that inspection protects you.
No. An oversized furnace heats the space near the thermostat, shuts off before the far rooms catch up, and then repeats. Correct sizing produces longer, gentler cycles and far more even temperatures.
Often yes, though the indoor coil and the blower have to suit both. We check compatibility and airflow before recommending it, because a mismatch shows up as a cooling problem next summer.
The heating and cooling side runs all seven days, 8am to 7pm. Installation dates depend on the job and we give you a real date in the written quote. Call (301) 395-3831.
